The final steps in completing the work ‘Bangkok’ in the Urban Jungle series was to touch up the background. I started by adding a few ‘dusting’ layers of color with a heavy glazing medium to even out the background and splashed drops of water to remove it before it dried to reveal some of the under layer. This added a bit more atmosphere to the background. I finalised it by then adding a splattering technique to the surface with the color red. It did get messy and I needed to cover the wall with paper and wipe the floor away from excess splattering.
